Miniota, a coming good one, tackled the pacemaker at once and forged quickly into the lead on the far turn, then came away and won running off. Oraculum, bandaged behind, essayed unsuccessfully to set the pace, failed to stay and was hard driven to save second place., Umbrella kept well up from the start and finished going fast. Ellicott, away slowly and shut off repeatedly in the early running, made up a lot of ground in the last quarter and runs like a stayer. Sandalwood made the running from the start, leading by a wide gap undisturbed until beginning the last circuit, when he was momentarily passed by Wood Rule, but drew out-again and won as his rider pleased. Tom Cogan, which had been skillfully reserved for a mile and a half, loomed up menacingly in tlie last half, but failed to make any impression on the winner. Paulaker ran well tliroughout and finished a good third. Wood Rule, pulling his rider almost, out of the saddle, was choked in the first part of the nice and then got Into the lead when called on, but it was only a flash in the pan. Belcast was shut off early, but closed a big gap in a twinkling when straightened for home, and, passing Lorlng at the end, won out with much to r.pare. Loring was rushed to the lead oh the outside In the first quarter and finally tired in the long stretch drive under a weak ride. .Momentum ran as if short, was forced out of position early and closed up well in the stretch, but quit in the last half dozen strides. Lee Harrison II., trailing from the start, closed a big gap In the stretch and finished close up and going like a cyclone. Scratched 05069!Monfort, 102; 65333 Umbrella, 99. Tipping, shut off early and badly messed about, closed a big gap in the last half into a fast going second. Mary Morris ran forwardly tliroughout and just earned third place in a game finish. Luretta was sent along from the start in strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker and consequently tired badly at the end. Stamping Ground dropped back f arly and, although inadequately handled, closed up a lot of ground in the stretch. Columbia Girl failed to stay after running forwardly for seven furlongs and quit badly. Winning Hand got away poorly and was outclassed. Fortunate was sent along from the start, overhauled the pacemaker in the stretch and won out with something in reserve. Zienap, dull and dry, lacked respectable early speed and was shut off and forced out of position in the early stages, but finished fairly well and can do much better. Battleaxe raced Into the lead early and made the running for five furlongs before he was headed, the favorite only passing him in the last hundred yards. Listless went well for a mile. Delmore quickly took the lead, set a fast pace and withstood all stretch challenges in remarkably game fashion. Emperor of India was forced out of position early, but always maintained close pursuit of the pacemaker and challenged him resolutely at the end, bnt could not get up. Hallowmas, away poorly, ran into forward contention from the first quarter and stayed there to the last sixteenth, where he commenced to tire. Johnstown, virtually left, trailed a bad last to the stretch, wnere he moved up with a sensational closing sprint. Huntington held his position until In --the last furlong, where he fell back. Grand Duchess failed to stay. John Lyle had scant cliance with his diminutive rider and ran a bad race. Palette lacked speed. Scratched 05293 Leonard Joe Hayman, 100; C534220natas, 100t
