GOOD SPORT AT LATONIA. BEAU BRUMMEL IS A STAYER AND WINS AX A MILE IN GOOD STYLE. Lady Jocelyn Takes Another Steeplecliaso Honry O. Improves Surprisingly Horsemen Got-ting Ready to Depart, v ; Cincinnati, O., November 10. A well arranged program of six races of which the third, a condition affair for two-year-olds in which the youngsters were asked to go a mile, and a steeplechase over the clubhouse course, were in the nature of headliners and had the effect, together with the moderating weather, of bringing out a banner crowd. The running of both races proved to be interesting, and as the public choices won in both but little unfavorable comment could be heard. In the two-year-old race John Markleius Star Shoot youngster Beau Brummcl made his opponents look cheap by jumping into the lead, showing the way unextended and winning eased up by three lengths from the heavily backed Crafty and Miss Lida. In the steeplechase the books were hit exceptionally hard, inasmuch as a well defined tip kad been passed around early in tke day to tke effect tkat "tkis was tke day for Lady Jocelyn." Wken tke prices were posted a concerted plunge was made that loaded every book. That Lady Jocelyn was well meant was shown by the running. Peter Becker, which had been, the pacemaker, was taken wide into the stretch when Lady Jocelyn made her run, allowing her to win as her rider pleased. Peter Becker was an easy second over Profitable, which had repeatedly been taken back while going through the field, but closed up like a wild horse in the run through the stretch. J. W. Pugk skipped Free Booter, Field Lark and Fonsoluca to New Orleans tonigkt. Henry O., wkich showed such decided Improvement over his last; race by winning the closing race, was .bid up S400 over his entered price of a like amount and bought by F. W. Torreyson. Jockey T. Taylor left for his home in Lexington this evening to rest up until the opening of the Crescent City tracks. E. J. Gildersleeve was called into the judges stand after Daring won the second race to explain the sudden improvement of his horse. Jockey C. Kocrner, who had the mount on. Ruiloba in tke last race, was Injured while pulling up after the race, the horse stumbling and unseating him. Kocrner luckily got off with a few slight bruises. L. Bloom, of Mexico, closed a deal with J. B. Haggin by wire by which he became the purchaser of 100 broodmares and fillies. He has also bought of J. H. Baker the chestnut horse Handmore, for a consideration of S100. He will be used to Improve the breed of horses in Mexico. In addition to the above Mr. Bloom has closed a deal for forty-eight mares which all become the property of the Mexican government. C. Heifers came down from Chicago this morning and reports they are having a hard time holding help around the California tracks on account of the scarcity of labor on the coast Jockey Vincent Foy has closed a contract to ride for J. W. Pugh during the New Orleans meeting. Horsemen are making complaints of the scarcity of cars for shipping to the New Orleans tracks. Roger Sullivan, former secretary of the Queen City Jockey Club was a visitor at the track today. J. B. Respess bet 0 straight and show on Temple . in the fifth race, getting as good as 9 to 1 for hia money straight and 2 to 1 to show.
