SCHILLING DOWN FOR THIRTY DAYS. Griffith Gets Two Weeks— Beecher Has It - Easy in Oaklawn Feature. Hot Springs. Ark.. March FT -The fit-Ids were small and the contests road in most of Ihe races at Oaklawn this afternoon. There was much rough riding. The judges punished jockeys Griffith and Shilling. Starter Hade reported that Griffith, riding Waahahfte, had deliberately eat off Katharine Mm phy. thereby practically destroying her chances in the opening race, Griffith was ■appended for two weeks. Just after the start in the last race. Shilling struck Dearborn with his whip. He was suspended for thirty days ami also had his badge taken up. Shilling had been engaged to ride Montgomery in the Oeeceal City Derby and he may Im allowed to lake the mount. The mile handicap was practically a gift for Beecher. He allowed the olhn* to sot ■ last aace for the first three ipiartors. but when called an he dashed into a long lead and won cantering.. The mile and* a half race brought alM.ui a sudden form reversal on the Karl af Atlila. In his buti start he was beaten off. Today he won as his rider pleased from Big Bow and Bendigo. Ben Strong was clearly the best in the third race, and his Be feat was due to had riding. At one time the colt was fully five lengths in front, but 1". Swain per sisted in racing him into exhaustion ami he had nothing in reserve to stall off the determined rush af Haughty in the last sixteenth. Shirley Bossmore showed a flash of her old form in the opening race and spreadeaglod the others, winning in a common canter. Jockey Manders claimed that Rose Hart fouled Bedrice in the second race. The judges denied the claim. W. K. Slade ran fairly well ami will show improvement. Jockey Mountain will leave for New Orleans tomorrow.
