DR. LEGGO READY FOR THE THORNTON Horsemen Predict Success for Him After Victory in Yesterdays Handicap. Oakland. Cal., March IT Todays a I tendance at the local course approximated 10.040. The weather was ideal and Ihe track good. An interesting fea ture on the card was the handicap at a mile and fifty yards, in which Pr. Leggo reversed his previous form with Edw.i- Gum. and beat him in decisive style, thanks to Koerners vigorous handling. Mc-Caffertys celebrated campaigner outclassed the others. After the finish he was worked out an extra quarter of a mile in the preparation for Saturdays long-distance fixture, the Thornton Stakes at four miles. Horsemen predict victory in that race for the big Pnryear P. five year old. Koerner. with rare skill, also piloted Orena to victory in the introductory sprint for two-year olds. In preparation for the Thornton Stakes, Veterano and Huston together did one mile and a half in I 2:40* ; pronounced good. With prospective good weather and a resultant fast track, Oakland racing is likely to improve fast, but for tomorrow nothing of extraordinary promise is in sight; still such fairly useful racers as Vespa, Follie L., Humero; Lord Nelson, Bonnie Reg. Elevation: Pelagoa. Phalanx. Curriculum; The Borglan, Fisher Boy, Tarp; Luxlan, 1 Tola Xou, LU Sheridan; Rapid Water.
