BINONDO AND BLACK ART DEAD. Louisville. Ky.. April 11. — Binondo and Black Art died of lung fever al Churchill Downs tixlay. Beth horses contracted the diesase en route from Hot Springs to this city. Binondo was a three-year-old brown gelding by Sempronius — Algie M., and was the property of T. P. Hayes. He was eligible lo the Kentucky Derby, but would probably not have Been a starter in that race had he lived. He was hardly of Dei by quality. He won one of his rive starts last year and had been in the money in three of his rive starts this year. Mr. Hajea has another Derby eligible in Kedgauntlet and he is almost certain to carry his colors for the prize May n. Redgaiintlet worked three-quarters af a mile in the mud reeterdaj morning in 1:1s and did il impressively. Black Art was a live-year-old brown horse iiy Sorcerer — Hue and was the property of W. L. Mower. He had not liecn in the money in any of his eight ra.es this year, but was a winner each of the three previous years. He was originally the proper 1/ of William Gerst, and trainer UcDaalel thought quite a hit of him as a yearling. He took him lo Chicago in 1M04. but he trained off and did so poorly that he became disgusted with him and sold him to Walter Gum, for whom he later proved a good investment. He won three of his eighteen races as a two-year-old, scored in five of his sixteen starts in l!Xj and last year woa two of his nineteen races.
