ALEGRAS FAST RACE AT HAMILTON. Brazil Bids Up Court Martial — Maybees Protest Is Not Allowed by the Judges. Hamilton. Ont.. June 14. — There was a circus in town tinlay and a speefct] train was i un from To-ronio. It brought about 1.500 people, fully threo-tilths of whom passed up the tented show and put la the afternoon at the racecourse. The racing was tame, but in a betting way the books had none the best of it, since three well-backed favorites came home in front. In the fourth race Alegra ran a fast five and a half furlongs. Alegra broke fast, went to the front in the first quarter, opened up a long lead, and was never in any danger of defeat. Omah J., ba. k l from 5s to .".s. was close in pursuit of the winner, but could never get near enough to make the lilly fully extend herself. The first run-up of the meeting occurred when John Dymeuts Court Martial, won the fifth race. Court Martial was entered to be sold for 00 and when bids were called for D. Brazil, who trains Caper Sauce, carried him to 50, but Court Martial weiii back to the Dyment barn on an advance of SV Jockey Moreland leaves tonight for Windsor to ride Jacomo in the Frontier Stakes. Mrs. D. B. Cook shipped Dew of Dawn and others of her stable to Windsor tonight. A. W. Mavbee. owner of Picaroon, which finished second to Thomond, protested the payment of the purse to Thomond on the ground that he was an entry in the fifth race. Tlie judges overruled the protest, stating that the entry of Thomond in the tilth was a mistake.
