WEXFORD A GOOD RACING TOOL. ex lord, with which U. L. Thomas scored his coup at Oiavtsend Wednesday, has not been noted for big winnings in prize money, but he is an un-c minoiily speedy horse and for tile past two seasons has been generally regarded as a good betting proposition in lacs of a mile to a mile and a sixteenth. Wexford is a live year old brown gelding by Wools thorpe, out of Miss Young, by Hanover. He was bred by Milion Young at McGrathiana Stud and was sold as a yearling to W. M. Hayes, of Lexinulon. Ky.. who had him as a two-year-old and kept him until his third race as a three year-old when he let him go to Harry Gardner anal Henry Mdoulskey. They raced him until near the close of the fall meeting at Latonia in 1MB and Frank Doss and Charles Heifers bought him and took him to California. He paid his way for them at Oakland ami at the Latonia spring meeting last year E. Dealy bought him and took him to the Canadian circuit. there he was at his best. At Fort Erie August 1s. he tied Peter Sterlings track record of 1:4S| for the mile and a sixteenth, carrying 116 pounds. At Windsor, Septeml er 1, he ran the mile and a six teenth with 118 pounds up in l:46i, a new track record. Dealy took him to Louisville and at Churchill Downs October 9, he set a new track record for the mile at 1:39* with 116 pounds up. This stood until Wing Ting took one-fifth of a second off it May 18. last. From Dealy Wexford passed to Phil T. Chinn, who sold him this spring to R. L. Thomas.
