MARTIN DOYLE WINS THE CATARACT. Atnos Turneys Big Horse Makes a Splendid Showing at Buffalo, Buffalo. N. Y.. July 0. The racing at Kenilworlli this afternoon was full of surprises. Ircen, at odds of 1 to I. was the only winning favorite. The one redeeming feature of the afternoons sport was the brilliant performance of Martin Doyle in the Cataract Handicap. Martin Doyle carried the toil weight of 127 pounds and came out of the struggle with Hying colors. In the early running the lig horse was in a pocket and while going down the backstretch and around the far turn he was cut off and interfered witli a half dozen times. This was due chielly to Triors attempts to go through on the inside. Entering the homestretch Ellicott went a bit wide and in an instant Martin Doyle was striding evenly with him. Martin Doyle disposed of Ellicott before the sixteenth post was reached, but lie had to stall off Solon Shingle, which came from behind with a rush and made a deermined challenge. Martin Doyle won by a length, with Solon Shingle the same distance; in front, of Lotus Eater. Amos Turney, owner of Martin Doyle, announced after tin; race that he would shift the horse to Brighton Itcaeh tomorrow. The history of the Cataract Handicap is as follows: Year. Winner. A. Wt.
