EDNA JACKSONS FAST PERFORMANCE. J. Lee Rides Two Winners at Kenilworth Dulcian Wins the Steeplechase. Ittiffalo, N. Y., July 35. The arrival of the delegations from Latonia and Windsor put new life into the sport at Kenilworth this afternoon. The attendance was the best of the meeting for an off-day. Speculation was brisk and the racing good, three of the races being productive of keen finishes. Favorites won four races and three of them were backed down to odds-on in the betting, so their success gave the ring a jolt. The feature race was a steeplechase over the short course, in which Dulcian beat Caloorahatchee out after a mild drive. Ruths Rattler fell and Bonfire made several bad landings. His rider had a hard time to keep from falling off. Kdna Jackson ran a really remarkable race In the fourth. She won In a canter in the fast time of 1:12J for the six furlongs. Directly after the barrier was released Kdna Jackson was crowded back and lost three or four lengths. Grand did not get rattled, but dropped the filly In behind the leaders and gradually reduced the big gap which separated him from Tickle and George S. Davis. George S. Davis, which finished third, was disqualified for fouling Mark Antony II. Jockey J. Lee rode the winners in the last two races and Immediately jumped into popularity with local race-goers. Willis Green was the best horse and he had really little more to do than sit still but on St. Joseph Lee was compelled to put up a rousing good ride for seven furlongs of the mile to keep his mount from dropping out of it. When Feen quit St. Joseph took the lead and won easily. Dulcian changed hands after the steeplechase. He was taken for by H. S. Barry, a Baltimore j l j l j j i gentleman, who will race the horse Tiere Tor the remainder of the meeting and then ship him to Baltimore to take part in the meeting of the Maryland Hunt Club. Jockey Grand, who left for New York tonight, was suspended by the starter for the remainder of the meeting for disobedience while at the post in the second race. The stewards took official action against Goldstein for rough riding in the fourth race and suspended him for three days. J. B. Respess is due here Wednesday from Cincinnati. Among the jockey arrivals this morning were Swain, Burton and Murphy from Windsor and lee. Minder and Ilueston from Latonia. Bookmakers from Latonia who readied here today were George North, C. Meyers, Oscar Bachinan, Sam .Most, John J. Murphy and Ben Jacobs. Howard Oots returned from New York this morning. Jockey Prior, who rode Martin Doyle in the Brighton Handicap, also returned.
