Aphrodite lashed Into a winning lead in the first furlong and was then easily rated in front for the remainder of the trip. Uncle Toby wheeled just as the barrier was sprung and had to work his way up on the outside for the first furlong, but finished fast and gamely under punishment. Desideratum was prominent all the way, but was tiring at the end and driving to the limit to stall off Bridge Whist. The latter met with much interference. Tickle was much used in racing at a fast pace with George S. Davis and had nothing left to stall off the win- iters challenge. George S. Davis ran well, but took a tiring swerve across to the Inside at the sixteenth pof-t and cut off Mark Antony II., was then disqualified and Mark Antonv II. placed third. Alegra was a close contender all the way, but was much used in forcing the early pace with Mulvaney and tired in the last quarter. Perfector broke slowly aud was outrun for the first half, then closed a big gap aud finished with a rush, was on the outside for the entire trip and covered more ground than any horse in the race. Mulvaney showed speed. Stoney Lee ran away two miles before the race and Simon I, was lame when going to the post. The winner was entered foe 00; no hid.
