TO COMPLETE DOUGLAS PARK SALE. Winn In New York for a Conference with Cella Plans for New Orleans Racing. New York, July 15. Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association, general manager of Churchill Downs and Douglas Park tracks in Louisville, and prospective general manager of City Park and the Fair Grounds tracks in New Orleans, arrived in New York this afternoon. The purpose of his visit is to have a meeting with Louis A. Cella at which the sale of the Douglas Park track to the Kentucky State Fair Association will be made complete, and at which the situation in Kentucky and plans for the winter at New Orleans will be discussed. . "I cannot say when the fall meeting in Kentucky will be opened," said Mr. Winn. "There will not lie a great deal of racing at Louisville this fall. What there is will b? at Churchill Downs and will come after the state fair, which is to be held at Douglas Park the third week in Septemlier. As I understand it, the dates will be arranged so that there will be an unbroken circuit. In the end this will be more beneficial to the horsemen than an extended meeting at Latonia this summer would have proved. It is for the best that racing terminated at Latonia at the end of the allotted time, which was last Saturday. "There will be no holding company for the New Orleans tracks. In so far as finances are concerned the affairs of City Park- and the Fair Grounds will be kept separate and distinct. This has been settled. One of the tilings to be determined iumhi is the recognition of licenses. I think that it is more than likely that a license Issued by one governing body will be recognized by the other. This Will take the burden uir the trainers and jockeys. At New Orleans last week. Messrs. Heas-lip. Barnes and Longshore, representing City Park, and Messrs. Benaud. Harrison and Brewster, representing the Fair Grounds, had a meeting. They were not long in reaching an understanding, and if the plans outlined at this meeting are acceptable to the two clubs I will take charge of the tracks." . .
