NOTHING DEFINITE ABOUT YONKERS. Question of Transportation Bothers Butler Jockey Club Stewards to Meet Today. New York, Julv 15. James Butler and his associates in the management of the Umpire City track-had a conference today with the officials of the New York Central railroad in regard to improved facilities for getting to the course for the meeting which has been announced to open August 5. They were in conference during the morning and again in the afternoon, but no decision was reached, and they will come together again tomorrow. Nothing of the details of the plans for the meeting have been given out yet, and it Is evident that information of this character will be held until some definite statement in regard to transportation can be promised. The bad transportation facilities ! have always been the greatest drawback against the course, and a meeting held there would lie at ; a great disadvantage unless tin? New York Central will agree to run special trains, either to Mount Vernon or Youkers. Then a short trolley or carriage ride brings one to the track. The plans or the association will likely he divulged in detail tomorrow or next day. Iajss than three weeks remain now until tiie opening of the , meeting, and horsemen are very anxious to learn ; ! something definite. It will probably be known by Wednesday at the farthest just what action the Jockey Club will take in reference to the meeting. The stewards will hold a meeting tomorrow and the Empire City matter will be tho chief subject : of discussion. None can more than hazard a guess on the . position of the Jockey Club, but it will not be i surprising to see this body ignore the meeting altogether : pending the settlement of the appeal taken ! by the Slate Itacing Commission.
