Clark to till the place or the six-year-old son or Meddler Dissembler in his stable. It was the intention to send Phantom to West bury, but it was found that his breakdown in Saturdays race was such that he could not recover and it was decided to humanely put him to death. Phantom did not race as a two-year-old. He began his career as the property of the Arverne Stalde at Brighton Beach, July 21, P.HH. His first race as a steeplechaser was at Shoepshcad Bay June 22. 1!05. and he did all of his jumping in Mr. Hitchcocks colors. While not a steeplechaser of tin! lirst quality, Phantom was an honest one, and at the top of his form it took a very good horse to beat him. He was especfally at home over the Gravesend course, when; he was rarely beaten. The following is a record of his performances and winnings: Year. Age. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp. Won.
