MURRAY TO START AT NORFOLK. Starter William Murray was in Chicago yesterday on his way from Butte, Mont., where the. forty days meeting closed Monday, to Norfolk, Va., where a thirty days meeting will open September 2. "The folks at Butte say the meeting just closed was the best ever held there," said Murray. "They may be a little on" in that, but it was certainly the best since the days of Marcus Dalys ownership and control of the track, The racing was. clean, the betting good and the management made money. They did sq well that they arc planning some Improvements for next season and it is not improbable that next year there will be sixty days racing. Many of the horses that were at Butte will continue on the Montana Circuit, which takes in a number of small meetings to be held in conjunction with agricultural fairs, but the best of them went to Peta-luma and Spokane." Starter Murray said that while there were some bad actors among the horses, ho had not found it necessary to put a single one of them on the schooling list during the entire meeting. He exhibited a handsome diamond and proudly explained that it was a present from the horsemen who had raced at the meeting and was given as a token of their appreciation of Ills efforts to produce good starts. c
