Welbounic was reserved within striking distance and moved up and challenged the leader on the last turn, drew out decisively in the stretch and was much the best. Cressina, after prominent, pursuit from, the start, got up In the last stride of a long stretch drive "for second place. Rockstone injudiciously set the pace for five furlongs and succumbed finally, is very promising and was easily second best. Acrobat, from a flatfooted start, was shullled to the rear, then trailed to the stretch and linished fast in an extra good race. Oxford is good, but was handicapped by the going. Right Royal, from a good start, was forwardly placed in the early running, drew out at the half and won off at the end and was much the best. Phil Finch trailed close up in the early stages, then closed a big gap in the last half and is much improved. Aster dOr made the running to the half, held on gamely to save third place in the closing drive and is very promising. Red Friar, good and fresh, finished with a belated, end rush. .Rio Grande was unfit to race, made a bad showing and had heavily bandaged forelegs. Black Oak displayed vast improvement and his race was a revelation, had a Hying start and spreadeagled the others after going very wide on tlie stretch turn and was much the best. Dennis Stafford, from a striding start, kept a good position under constant pressure and was a fast going and very game second. Magazine was messed about and pocketed on the inside after getting away llatfooted. Tenancy by Courtesy, crowded out at the start, closed a big gap in the last half. Ouatassa showed superior sieed, but tired finally. King Sol finished well. Ileknows was shut off sharply on the far turn, but ran a bad race. Deggar Maid held on wonderfully well for second place after making the early running. Lord Stanhope closed a big gap from an indifferent start and was a fast coming third. Schroeders Midway was always a prominent contender. Prince Hampton tired finally after showing speed. Smiling Tom, a? Iter being prominent, quit finally as if short. Lally was given a bad ride. Half Sovereign had no mishaps, helped force the early pace and went after the leader gamely in the stretch, but could iiot quite get up. Keep Moving steadily improved her position and finished a very game third. Whip Top finished fast and so did Sunglcam, which closed a big gap. Grande Dame was shullled back on the far turn and made up ground fast at the end. Anonyma quit after terrific pacemaking.
