Fleming broke "slowly and closed up steadily throughout into a fast going second. Robin llwl showed superior early speed and was in nearest attendance on the winner, but weakened in the closing drive. Shot Gun held Ilia position, but was badly outpaced by the first tiiree and can do better. Gambrlnus, away very badly, closed a big gap and finished like a shot. Monet, qualifying, was hopelessly outrun from the start. The winner was entered for 1,S00; no bid. Uncle, away slowly, was quickly urged Into strenuous pursuit of the Hying leader and got into the lead on the far turn in the most amazing burst of speed seen this season, but tired finally after a game effort. Meeliek beat the barrier and led for nearly three furlongs, then quit suddenly. Firestone loomed up well on the last turn, but succumbed finally. Ballot stole a long lead at the start by outbreaking the others decisively and made the running throughout, but finished tiring and only lasted the journey. Electioneer, in wonderful form, maintained nearest pursuit of the winner throughout and was wearing him down slowly at the end. Salvidere, always within striking distance of the first two, finished going fastest of all and would have won in another sixteenth. Montgomery, which seemed badly outpa ced for half the journey, was closing up well in the last quarter. Running AAater, outpaced and under pressure early in the race to keep up, loomed up at the half ami then dropped out again, probably h andlcapped by the going.
