Won driving; second and third the same, i Albert Star broke well, but was shuffled back soon after the start and had a rough trip in the early t stages, had to go wide into the stretch, but finished with a great rush and got up in the closing strides. 1 Miss Vigilant, lucky most of the way and savins much ground, wore Darling Ban down in the last furlong, but tired slightly in the closing strides. Darling Dan showed the most early speed from a fast start and : ran a good race. Uneasy was right there most of the wa.V. Rbyal Queen showed improved form anil I but for going wide into the stretch, would have been closer up at the end. The winuer was entered for 5000: no bid. Jim Simpson, "awav well and running to his best form, raced Malta into subjection in the first half, then drew out into a long lead and was never seriously menaced in the stretch run. Hardshot, hard ridden all the wav, gained steadily on the outside and, standing the final drive well, held Mattie Mack safe for sec- , onl pla"ce The latter did her best. Blaze oLlght, away in a tangle and suffering from interference on the turns came fast through the stretch when clear. Knight of Ivanhoe ran a fast last half. Belle of Penzance tired in the last quarter after being a prominent contender most of the way. Malta showed speed. The Minks, under skillful guidance, moved up fast after going a half and, finishing gamely, outstayed Edwin Gum iu the final drive. Edwin Gum, away well, was allowed to drop far hack in the first three furlongs, then moved up fast, but Lycurgus was clearly outridden iu the final drive by Lee. Redgauntlet began slowly and, saving ground all the way, finished fast and ran a good race. Lexollue, showing much speed, forced the pace to the stretch turn, where ho ran out and impeded Carew, which was Ills closest follower at that point. Beau Brummel tired after setting the pace fast for three-quarters. Monsign- ran a bad race and can do much better. Miss Sain, evidently a high-class filly, followed close up in the early stages, wore down Tackle on the stretch turn and drew away to win in a canter. Melzar came fast through the stretch, but was not good enough to beat the winner. Tackle, away fast and showing improved form, set the pace fast for a half, but tired in the stretch. Vansel, under poor riding, ran a good race and was gaining at the end. Hollow ceased to be a factor after going a half and found the weight too much to concede. Esther Brown ran fairly well.
