Banyah went to the front at once and, dashing into the lead on the far turn, was well in hand through the last sixteenth. Inauguration moved up with a game challenge when straightened out in the homo-Ftretch, but tired at the end. Saltram finished gamely under punishment and outstayed Frescatl in th final drive. Charlie Eastman left the post with a rush and had a lead of a length before they had taken a dozen strides, then set a fast pace all the way, but had to be hard ridden in the last furlong to stall, off Avaun-tfcr. The latter ran on the Inside next to the rail all the way and, saving ground on every turn, out-gained Sally Preston in the stretch drive. Her weight told on Sally Preston In the last furlong, but she was- a game contender .until well into the homestretch. Platoon was repeatedly cut off. Throw his lace out. Overweights -Venus, 3 pounds. Bob Murphy fenced well and saved ground on every turn and ran into a big lead after Merry Maker bolted at the twelfth jump. Arictic Circle was outrun for the first turn of the field, but closed a big gap and finished gamely under a drive and was very lame when lie pulled up. Pioneer was a close contender through the last turn of the field, but kept bearing out iu the stretch and was tiring at the end. Eva Clair was outrun for the first half mile and wore down the tiring Prytania ind was an easing up second. Prytania was not in condition to go the distance and tired after going six furlongs. Ormondes Right broke slowly and was taken to the outside and closed up fast on the far turn, but went to the outside fence when entering the homestretch, was best and would have won witli an intelligent ride. Prince Brutus showed early speed, but could not stay the route. Bye Bye II. was outrun all the v.iv. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Wabash Queen broke in motion from behind and dashed around her field on the outside, wore Fiat down on the backstretch and opened up a big lead when rouudiug the far turn. She was well in hand at the end. Fiat was easily best of the others. He lost ground when entering the stretch by going wide. Care-lens held the others safe the entire trip.
