MAY REVIVE RACING IN VIRGINIA. Bill to Legalize the Sport To Be Presented to Next Legislature. Washington, D. C, November 20. There Is considerable talk among Virginia horsemen and breeders lierc for the race meeting of the Washington Jockey Club of a racing bill being Introduced in the Virginia legislature this winter. It is said that a number of the prominent breeders of the state across the Potomac are now engaged in drafting such a bill, embracing all of the better features of racing laws of other states and avoiding their mistakes. The venerable Captain Breckenridge, father of Hunter G. Breckenridge, owner of the extensive breeding establishment, Catawba Farm, at Fincastle, is slated to launch the measure at the coming session of the legislature and captain the bill throughout Its parliamentary voyage. If a racing bill Is Introduced and passed, it is said that there will be race meetings held in Richmond, Lynchburg, Norfolk and Roanoke next year and at Alexandria in 1909. Richmond and Norfolk have race tracks already built, and the other towns could build them In a few months. These tracks have reasonable assurance that they will he recognized by the Jockey Club if the law is placed on the statute books.
