Chaimltepec outclassed the others, broke fast and, taking a long lead under restraint, came away in the fUetch to win in a canter. Tartar Maid ran forwardly from the start and always held second place safe. Hans, second best, was away in a tangle and forced to go wide most of the way and closed a big gap. Financier showed speed, hut tired in the final furlong and is probably a non-stayer. Merrigo ran fairly well. Tackle, away poorly, had scant chance here and can do much better. Dunning was skillfully ridden and reserved for the first turn of the field, moved up fast to Onyx II. when approaching the seventh fence, but blundered there and nearly fell, then took the lead at the next hedge, hut had to do his best near the end to stall off Bank Holiday. The latter finished with a rush and would have won at a. longer distance. Onyx II. tired slightly, but ran a good race. Full of Fun was a sharp factor during the-early stages, but failed to stay. Kiamesha II. showed speed, but tired after going a half. Miss Affable ran poorly under weak riding and can do much better. Gilfain was away slowly and closed a big gap. Penrhyn will improve. Avaunteer, lucky at the start, showed sudden improvement and superior . speed and seemed a certain winner, but succumbed in the last stride of a game effort. Lancastrian, badly outpaced in the first half, saved ground when turning into the stretch and, finishing with a rush, would have won in two more strides. Xo Quarter ran a good race and was right there at the end. Robin Hood tired fast after going five furlongs. Alpenmarchen ran forwardly for a half. Hannibal Bey, favored at the start and running in much improved form, wore Bensonhurst down in the first half and, standitig the final drive gamely, scored a lucky victory. Pride of Woodstock, much the best, trailed, the others far back from a poor beginning, but moved up with a rush after straightening out for the stretch run, came on with a rush and would have won in a few more strides. Lucy Young suffered from early interference and ran a good race. Husted ran well and was buffeted about in the stretch, s Tyrollan came fast at the end. Miss Ferris saved ground when turning into the stretch. Suffice was knocked out of any chance after going a half. Alencon was given an easy ride and will Improve.
