NOTES OF THE TURF. Louis SLuart lias charge of eight good looking yearlings belonging to L. O. Appleby at Sheepshead Bay. Jockey Jaraqs Wilson, an English rider who rode for the Hurst Stable during the season just closed, has arrived in this country on his vacation. Superintendent Frank Clark is making the most of his opportunities in rushing the work of altering the course and buildings at Sheepshead Bay before cold weather stops work. Faulconbridgo has been shipped to the Riverdale Stock Farm of B. It, and O, A. Knapp at Cortland, Cortland County, New York, where he will be kept next year as a breeding bureau stallion. John Mackey, the veteran manager of Rancho del Paso Stud near Sacramento, Cal., has been con lined to his rooms in the Ashland House, Now York, for several days, but Is now on the mend. P. J. Dwyer has abandoned his contemplated trip to California this winter, where he expected to see the racing at both of the coast tracks, ynd the only time he will leave New York this winter will be for a short sojourn to Hot Springs. The Jockey Club of New York has formally awarded the cash prizes of 30, 00 and 50 to the keepers of Don de Oro, Fatherland and Margrave, which were the sires in the breeding bureau having the largest number of living foals this year. James R. Keene has thirty-six colts and fillies quartered for the winter in a big shed at Sheepshead Bay. Trainer James Rowe will spond the winter at the track us usual, but is tu lie seem around the Hoffman House nearly every afternoon visiting with horsemen who have been for years in the habit of congregating there.
