ANSWERS TO QUERIES. Communications without names and addresses of senders will not be answered or noticed; nor will any answers be sent by mail. R. E. II., La Salle, 111. Prices correct as published. G. L., Chicago. If it was at average odds the return would be .20; if at post prices, .10. Foster Co., St. Louis, Mo. Place bets are not affected by a dead heat for first place and are paid as if there was no dead heat. M. p. L., Cincinnati, O. The wager on Plant-land won at reduced odds unless the bookmaker operates under the rule that added starters run for his book and you knew it. E. L. D., Fort Thomas, Ky. The bet on Hans won. The stipulation "must lie even money or belter" was met because the price against Hans was 2 to 1. The fact that througti a dead heat this price was not realized by the bettor, cuts no figure. If Hans had been beaten, the bettor would have lost and he is entitled to the beuelit of his partial success.
