VETERAN HUZZAH STILL RACING. The eight-year-old brown gelding, Huzzah, whicli raced on all of the middle west tracks in the colors of James Arthur since he was a two-year-old, is now racing at Oakland owned and trained by V. Hughes. Hughes last winter raced at New Orleans and met Arthur late one afternoon when Arthur was considerably behind in his speculative operations and Hughes suggested a way to get even on the day. Arthur proceeded to act on the suggestion and Artluur gave nughes his horse Huzzah for getting him out of -a tight place. Huzzah has run one good race for Hughes on the coast. He ran some good races during his career and may show some of his old time form before the winter is over. Huzzah has done most of his racing over a considerable distance of ground, but was considered a poor breaker and invariably trailed until in the last six furlongs, when he would close up with a brilliant sprint. If he did manage to got away in front, he would lead by a big margin for the first half and then retire and his general form would indicate that he was intended for a sprinter. Several years ago the son of Hermencc Complete -developed a bad temper and was feared by the attendants of the Arthur stable. Owner Arthur had him gelded and he has been kind in disposition since.
