PIETERMAR1TZBURG IS REGRETTED. As it so often happens, Pietermaritzburg, directly after his deportation to the Argentine from England, has done extraordinarily well with the stock lie left behind liiui, says the London Sporting Life. Last year he had one two-year-old winner, Peter Piper, which captured a couple of prizes worth collectively ,250. During the past season he had no fewer than eleven winners of nineteen races, worth 19,230. No other sire did so well in the juvenile department, so far as the number of win-, ners and races are concerned. Some folks gasped when they heard that the South Americans had given ,000 for the son of St. Simon, but the figure does not look quite so high at this time.
