PERSONAL WINS THE NURSERY STAKES. Great Crowd Views the Washington Races and the Meeting Grows in Interest Daily. Washington, D. C, March 28. — James McLaughlins two-year-old bay filly Personal won the fourth Washington Nursery Stakes this afternoon bv outrunning her opponents all the way. The kinlev Mack — Lady Lindsey filly broke running and showed amazing speed. She is a lengthy and somewhat leggy youngster and will probablv win more than once during the early meetings. The Madden entry was favorite in the betting, but the best that Takahira could do was to finish in second place. Balbek left the post in a tangle, but made up much ground and is sure to develop into a good colt. The tabulated history of the Washington Nurserv Stakes is as follows: Year. Winner. Wt. Jockey. Val. Workman led throughout with Greeno at all times in close pursuit, but the later was unable to overtake the leader in a hard closing drive. Servile outstayed Dally for third place Oraculum was easily best of the eight starters in the second race and was never in trouble. Billie Hibbs was in close quarters during the early running, but closed a big gap when clear and finished with a rush. Kara won the Spring Handicap Steeplechase. He carried his big impost of 160 pounds like the good horse he is and finished in commanding fashion. Essex II., ridden by Mr. Dion Kerr, took second place in the last stride.
