ARGENTINE DERBY WON BY OUTSIDER. At Buenos Ayres October S the Argentine Derby, wortli 3,125. was won by Chopp. an outsider, which started at 23 to 1. and defeated a hot favorite la Rosales by a head. The distance was ten furlongs. The Standard Buenos Ayres commented on the race as follows: "The remaining twelve candidates were presented in superb condition, the favorite. Rosales, immediately impressing all mresent owing to his excellent looks, and was from the first installed a very hot favorite, whilst the Iceache pair also had a very" large following. "The race by no means came up to the expectations of the public. Lancaster made the pace from tlie start, apparently for his stable companion. Mar-rano. which at no time showed up in the race, Rosales lying fourth, apparently ready, waiting for his opportunity, but when It came Vicente Fernandez, his jockey, had allowed his mount to drop back so much that he found it impossible to catch the leader.
