NOTES OF THE TURF. Jamaica racing of next week will only take up three days. Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday. Jockey Gaiinon, riding for Baron Von Kudiger, lias met with great success in Russia, where he has become popular with the race-goers. Thrve horses that won races at Latonia Thursday afternoon are said to be slated for Havana racing. They are Old Honesty. Urancas and Dispute, all bet ter horses than the Cubans have ever seen in action in their lovely island. A decidedly novel aud interesting feature of last Mondays program of the Dallas State Fair races was the performance of Jim J., a runner that went a mile in 1:50 without, rider, saddlo or bridle, in t he fashion of the "guideless wonder" of the trotting turf. Kd Alvey was to have paid ,500 for Jeff I?ern-Biein. but the ileal fell through, .lack Baker will winter the colt at Lexington, not being able to take part in coast racing next winter. If all goes well with him a distinguished career next year seems to be in prospect for him. Trainer Tony Coble has been authorized to select a jockey for the Warsaw Stable in Russia. Coble has had live years experience in training runners in European countries and declares a position with the Warsaw stable would prove a desirable berth for an American rider of ability. In respect to horses, attendance and other features the Iimlico fall meeting will probably be the best and best paying ever held at the old track. Under present New York conditions bookmakers have little chance and will probably Hock to Baltimore in such numbers that a daily average of fifty books will not be at all surprising. Hart Dernham. secretary of the Houston Jockey Club, has received requests for stall room for 400 horses that will race at the coming Houston meeting. Deriihani expects at least thirty good horses from New iork and is confident that unite a number of eastern horsemen intending to go to California will stop over and race there. The purchaser of Adam, according to a dispatch received by Andrew Miller, is a Hungarian breeder, but his naiiK1 was not given. M. Blanc does not allow other French breeders access to Flying Fox. and it is some cause for wonder that they allowed bis tine son to go to Austria-Hungary, instead of buying liiui for service in France, at any price.
