Start good. Won handily; second and third driving, Cowen, from a lucky start, ploughed through the difficult going well and virtually made the running throughout. Matchtulla met early inside interference, but made up ground and finished gamely. Palo Alto, after strenuous forward pursuit, finished in deep going and tired badly. Rosamo broke slowly and closed up steadily. Joe Rose, away slowly, improved his position steadily and will improve. Voladay was nearly left and hopelessly outrun all the way. Magrane, after nearest early pursuit, fell lame. Dorante ran in forward contention from the start, but could never quite get up and was a game second. Royal Tourist, after striking distance pursuit, was anchored in the deep stretch going finally, but ran a grand race. Montgomery dropped out on the first turn and was hopelessly outpaced to the stretch, then made a belated final rush. Tony Faust set a tremendous pace for seven furlongs and tired. County Clerk was prominently reserved under a pull for" seven-, furlongs and dropped out unexpectedly. Talamund was well up for half the journey. Cloverland showed brief speed and ran a bad race. Von Tromp ran lapped on the pacemaker to the stretch and drew out like the winner, but succumbed quickly when challenged. Lord Provost set the pace to the stretch and quit badly. Galla, badly outpaced early, finished well. Sainvoke Was never dangerous anil badly- outrun; butfinished jnoder-ately well. The Vicar, after early prominence, quit badly.
