A largo and enthusiastic Saturday crowd was present today and was? well repaid for its trip to the course at the foot of the mountains, for the racing was productive of three cracking, close finishes. Secretary Smith presented one of his best cards and, although the lields were comparatively small, they were so well balanced as to furnish exciting sport throughout the afternoon. The event of the day went to W. Walkers three-year-old. Stanley Fay. which was heavily sup ported by he public. Vox Po:uii set him a merry pace for the first seven furlongs, but here Stanley Fay overhauled him. the two lighting it out under keen urging to the line. Stanley Fays splemUd gameness stood him in good stead in the closing strides and he got bis head over the winning mark in front. All Alone disappointed a number of easterners in the days opener by failing to finish inside the money. La Gloria was at her best -today and. generously supported by public and sharpshooters alike, made the others in the last race look cbean.
