NOTES OF THE TURF. Tn order to stand the tellinj: climate at Havana, many horses which will be raced there during the winter are being trained at Tuiiinn. Fla.. where the toinperaturo is only slightly dilTVront from that of Cuba. When the horses leave Tampa they will he nclimatcd and it will not take long to condition tliem for racing at Havana. W. TiII. Jlacdonough regards Cotylto as one of the best lillies in training. Corytto is a bay filly l.v Solitaire II. The Peeress, by .His nighness. which was formerly owned by 1rinee 1oniatowski. Cotytto was bred on tlie Menlo Park Farm of Macdonoiigh and was later .sold to Adolph Spreekels. She has wnii tlire races ami finished second in her other start since the opening of tho Oakland season. A peculiar accident occurred on the closing day of the Houston meeting which resulted in the death of the live-year-old Daring. The horse, with Munden ill, was si contestant in the sixth race, hut stum-hlcd and fell after passing the quarter. On arising to his feet he ran away in an opposite direction from the oth;r horses. After Kizil had won the race and before he could lie pulled up he collided with Daring, coming from the other way. resulting in the hitters death.
