- s - COLT THAT REPRESENTS THE BEST BLOOD OF AMERICA AND ENGLAND h H. P. WHITNEYS CH. C. 2, PERSEUS, BY PERSIMMON URANIA. In 1005 II. P. Whitney sent a few select mares to England, where they were mated with the most noted and exclusive sires of . the day. The splendid Hanover mare, Urania, was sent to the court of Persimmon and the colt Perseus was the result. Great things were hoped for from this leggy, but highly-bred, .colt, which were not realized, although he was by no means a failure and may prove a good three-year-old. He was not started until the rich Hopeful stakes came up for decision at Saratoga and In this lie ran second to Helmet and defeated Fayette. Sir Martin and Bobbin. Next lie ran fourth in the Futurity and followed this up by winning the Sapphire Stakes from Bobbin. Lady Hubbard, Harrigan and Tattling. His only other start was in the Great Eastern Handicap, in which he was not placed. His record and pedigree are as follows: War. . Sts. 1st. 2nd. 3rd. Unp. Won. lJOS 4 110 2 ,550 l Vedette S "teenr.
