STAR RACE AT SANTA ANITA SATURDAY. The Monrovia Handicap is the next stake offering of the Los Angeles Racing Association and will be run Saturday. December 12. at Santa Anita Park. The Monrovia is a handicap sweepstakes for two-year-olds and over at the time of closing, with .50:1 added, of which 00 to the second and 110 to, the third. Distance is one and one-eighth miles. This stake closed Tuesday. November 12. with forty-five nominations, including the fastest horses in training in the state of California. S. C. Hihlreth has named the ten-best horses--in his extensive stable and. though it looks as if be had this event at his mercy, it will be no easy contest, as his stable entry will meet with strong opposition rrom such redoubtable lacers as Jack Nunnallv.
