TRAINER RALPH BLACK IS DEAD. Ralph Black, well known to racing, died at Slieepsluad Bay Sunday. Mr. Black was identified particularly with the steeplechase side of the sport and trained main horses that gained distinction across country for .1. M. Crosby and later the late R. C. Hooper of Boston, who raced in the name of Mr. Chamhlet. Mr. Black years ago owned a sxiles stable in Boston, his specialty being hunters, and many a good one Imp sold to members of the Brookline Country Club. He drifted naturally into the training of steeplechasers and was a familiar figure aliout all eastern traces for the past dozen years.
