ONE OF CANADAS STRONG STABLES. Detroit. Mich.. April 22. — The barns at the newlv built Windsor track house a goodly baud of horses which are taking their exercises regularly. The st formidable stable there is the Hendrie Valley Farm Stable. Visitors to the track are mostly interested in the two candidates for the Kings Plate. Shimoncse and Scud. Sbiinonese. the beautiful four-year-old daughter of Marti mas. winner of the Futurity, and out of Lyddite, winner of the Kings Plate, was most un lucky to have been nosed out of last years Plate through imt having a jockey to pilot her who was strong enough to keep her straight in the last fifty yards. Scud is a four-year-old colt, by Gold Car — Splash, and is a half-brother to the speedy Ayrwater. He has never shown anything iu public and may prove but a sprinter. However, if looks count for anything, this fellow will surely be heard from the coming season Glimmer looks especially well. Last year a split hoof kept tills rugged son of Martimas — Flicker in the barn most of Hie time. During the winter be lias grown a hoof, and appears to be going through his daily work-out without a sign of lameness. Although it was feared that Dcnliani had broken down last year at Toronto, trainer John Nixon has him out galloping every day. and says he is going along as sound as a bell. The Hendrie lot. which starts racing at Toronto, and threatens to cut a deep figure in the Canadian racing of 1900. is made up of the following horses: Charlie Gilbert, ch. h. 5. by Masetto — Frogmore.
