FIRST PREMIUM DEFEATS PARK ROW. San Antonio. Tex . April 22. — A large and speculatively inclined crowd witnessed the running of seven weil-arranged races today. The fourth race, a six-and-one-half-furlongs dash brought together First Premium and Park Row. resulting in a keen and Interesting struggle. Park Row got away to a flying start ami set a dazzling pace for three-quarters of a mile, but faltered after entering the stretch, and when First Premium challenged had nothing left to stall off the latter fast closing rush, succumbing in the final strides. This was one of the fastest races ever run in this part of the country and created unbounded enthusiasm. Singleton was again in the limelight, riding two winners and two seconds. Vaudusen was also prom iuent. bringing home two winners and one se. on. I. Fernando was claimed Wednesday bv R. Karris for 50. Chippewa, the winner of the last race, was bid up 00 over his entered price of 00 when S. A. Clopton let him go to P. Dwyer There is to lie a sale of horses in the paddock Saturday and a large number are to be disposed of by the auctioneers. J. D. Grant will ship his stable to Toronto next week.
