MEXICAN TWO-YEAR-OLDS RUN WELL. Merry Gift Wins for Schorr — Oharlie Eastman and Ben Cole the Winning Favorites. Baltimore. Md.. Mav :!.— The Montpelier Stable. named bv R. T. Wilson. Jr.. furnished the winner in iH.tlt the two-year-old races at Iimlico this afternoon. In Waratrraa and Mexoana. beak of which are by Mr. Wilsons stallion Mexican, which will be remembered as a high class colt a few seasons back. Huth Mexoana and Zacatecas showed much speed and both won in easy fashion alter leading their opponents from start to finish. It was a hard dav on favorite backers. Charlie La-tmau and Ben Cole being the only winning l Indces. Ji.ckey K. Dugau is fast losing the followers he made during the early days of the meeting. Dugan failed to ride a winner on Saturday and the best he could do today was to finish second. The sixth race furnished the only close finish of the afternoon. Live Wire winning by a nose from Fins ami Needles after a long, hard stretch drive, in which the winner dis played rare gameness. John V. Schorrs stable furnished another winner ••day in Merry Gift, which captured the closing race alter making the pace throughout. Merry Gift is a rather small filly, but possesses great speed, tine made so fast a uvrac as Simple Honours dizzy in following her for the first half-mile and at the end drew away into an easy lead. Charlie Eastman, another westerner, finished in front when lie arat a fair hand in the second race. This horse is owned by a Cincinnati man. W. A. Hughes, who telegraphed his trainer. Lee Christy, to arrange to ship his stable to Louisville as soon as imssihle. lackey Jimmy Reid suffered a sprained thumb as a result of his being unseated from Jcanetto M. on Satimfciy last.
