Crystal Maid, away forwardly. forced a fast pace from the start and raced Dainty Dame into defeat in the first half, but bad to be shaken up near tin- end. Dainty Dame til a good race and but for being in the worst go-tig might have won. All Red was close up for the first half, but tired in the stretch racing. Wool Sandals showed speed, but quit in the stretch. Royal Tourist, away well, failed to show much speed and probably disliked the going. Goldproof dropped out of contention after going a quarter. Ethelburg, away fast, followed Placide closely for the first three furlongs and wore him down in the last lurloug. but had to do his best after taking the lead to stall off Martine H. The latter was gaining at the finish and would have won at a longer distance. Placide showed a good flight of early sliced in pace-niaking. but tired near the end. Fereno. away in a tangle, closed a gap and was close up at the end. Whim had to go to the outside in the stretch and lost much ground. Helma S. ran fairly well. The latter ran a good race, finished fast and had no mishaps. J. II. Reed gained steadily from a slow beginning and was going fast at the end. E. T. Shipn fell back after going a quarter and came With ■ rush near the end. Rlghteasy was prominent most of the way, but tired. Tom Mcdrath ran poorly. The winner was entered fof 00: no bid. Wintergreen broke fast and was bumped into soon after the start by Dr. Barkley. but recovered quickly and. taking a good lead, held sway throughout and won in a canter. Miami, clear of interference, followed Wintergreen in closest pursuit throughout and finished fast and gamely, but was not good enough. Dr. Barkley ran a cracking good race and outgamed Sir Catesby in the last few strides. Sir Catesl. showed much improvement, closed a gap early and finished resolutely. Friend Harry tired badly after going a good three-quarters. Direct dropped out after going Ihree-quarters. Michael Angelo began slowly and closed a gap in the last quarter. Southern Gold, evidently a good colt, showed a high Might of speed and raced by Donau in a jiffy into a l ng lead, but tired in the last furlong and had to do his best at the end. Donau ran well, but was given a weak finish and would have won with more vigorous riding. Henderson tried to run out on the first turn, then closed a big gap and finished gamely. Laveno ran poorly and failed to show much speed. C. A. I.ciman was away fast, bnt dropped out in the tirst quarter. Scratched— 811403Zulu. 103: Hallack. 100. Overweights — Southern Gold. 1 pound. Stone Street tired after going well for three-quarters. Arrow Swift closed a big gap. ca.ne fast in the stretch and was going best of all at the end. Miltiadcs was almost thrown when Paul Ueinart cut sharply across in the first furlong. Paul Ruin. ut showed speed, but quit after going three-diiarters. The winner was entered for 00: no bid.
