HIGH OPINION ENTERTAINED OF MASKETTE. New York. May 21. — It is the consensus of expert opinion that Maskette is the best mare this country has -ecu since the days of Artful, a daughter of Hamburg and Martha II. . which won the Futurity of 1904 for Hairy Payne Whitney. The two-year-old records of the two mares were very much alike. Bo. h of them took the Futurity and Greet Filly Stakes. It is to be hoped that Mr. Keene may have better link with Maskette this season than Mr. Whitney had with Arttul in 100".. Artful won the Brighton Handicap of 1906 and made Beldame and Ort Wells look cheap. But after that she suffered from recurring attacks of fever, which prevented her from filling her later dates.
