TWO ENDURING AMERICAN THOROUGHBREDS. Remarkable Careers on the Track of the Noted Horses Logan and Blitzen. Many banes go through long and strenuous racing careers successfully without attracting more than an average amount of attention but occasionally one crops up which is raced so often and races so as to become a focus of admiring comment and acquire a great following. Two such that were running contemporaneously were each dubbed "iron horse" as an effective testimonial to their remarkable stamina and often demonstrated speed and courage. These were Alex Shields Logan aud "Pa" Bradleys Blitzen. Of the two. Logan was probably the superior, al though Blitzen was an admirable race horse when at his best and a truly remarkable mud runner. In the course of his ten years on the track Iogan run in the great number of Kfi rans and was placed in 2J.". a record difficult to match in any country. He was a hardy traveler, a hearty feeder and indifferent to surroundings. On one ocra-sion he was sent from New Orleans to San Francisco and arrived at the Ingleside track about noon. He had bean entered in a purse by telegraph and about three hours after his arrival started and won from good horses. It was the general opinion that the horse would be dull and tired after such a long trip, hence he was at lo to 1 in the betting and his owner profited largely. Logan is still a sound and lusty horse and was presented lo the Canadian Racing Bureau. U which as possibly the only living great grandson of Glcn-eae he should prove of great value. His career ou the track was as follows: Logan, b. h. 1888. bv Voltigcur — Pert. Year. A. Sts. 1st. 2d. od. Flip.
