Rye, stiff and sore, had a lucky start, but was outpaced in the middle running and a lucky third under a vigorous finish. Acrobat ran lapped on the pacemaker for ;seven furlongs and tired, but was a game fourth. Bad News outbroke the others and set the pace, but was crowded on the far turn and suceumled in the stretch. Orphan Lad. shuttled to the rear on the first turn; closed a big gap, but finished in close quarters and pocketed. AVilton Lackaye, crowded out on the first turn, made up much ground.
