She is not owned l.v Mr. Wheatcroft. however. She is the property of Colonel Jack Chiiin. chairman of the Slate Ruling Commission, as is her dam. Sneerwell. which was mated this week with St. Savin. The handsomest of the yearling colts in the St. •lames Stud is the chestnut sou of Broomstick and Ksteem. the eight -year-old Fnglish-breil daughter of Cliildwick and Ilestia. by Hampton. Mr. Wheatcroft bought Ksteem at the dispersal sale of the Senorita Stud here in November, litos. for .".0 and this foal came in March 11KHI. At that same sale Sanford I.yne bought Fsteenis foil of 1008. a chestnut tilly by Broomstick, for lM» and last summer he sold her as a yearling to W. S. Fanshawc, of the Silver Brook Farm, for B1.S00. The most highly-prized of the yearling fillies owned by Mr. Wheatcroft is that bv Sain, out of Ora Bailey dam of Sewelli. by Hanover. The name Queen Sain was claimed for her at the time of her registration last fall. Mr. Wheatcroft paid tj.2.000 for Ora Bailey and she topped the list of the mares in the McCrathiana dispersal sale in October. Pius, at a time when thoroughbreds were cheaper than dirt and hard to get rid of. Ora Bailev and Ksteem are now both at Barney Schreibers Woodlands Farm in Missouri to be mated with Sain. Ora Bailey having foaled there a few days ago a filly by Cesariou. All of the yearlings at lakwinnl Farm are now lieing made halterwise.
