BELM0NT-BRED HORSES CONSPICUOUS. Lochiel and Field Mouse Among Yesterdays Winners at Pimlico— Changed Track Conditions. Baltimore. Mil.. Mav :!. — Belmont-bred horses cut an ini|Hirtant figure in the running of the races at Pimlico this afternoon. Lochiel. a Belmont cast off. met and defeated a band of good two-year-olds in the opening dash ami Field Mousw simply played with the sprinters that went to the post in the fifth. This was Field Mouses first effort of the season ami she came Iiack to the races showing the same form that she did last season when she was rated among the good ones of her age on the metropolitan circuit. She won in a canter bv five lengths after forcing a fast early pace. The opiiositlon that Field Mouse beat included a couple of Preakness eligihles. G. XI. Xliller and Sager. The latter showed a splendid performance in coming from behind and finishing with great courage, tin his showing today Sager is certain to be a factor in Saturdays big race. Lochiel picked up 117 imtinds in his race, overcame a lot of early interference, and won going away. l pchiel is unquestionably one of the best of his age shown here this season. He will la- shipped to Canada at the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting, and has been liberally engaged by his owner in the stakes on the northern circuit. R. K. Watkins was credited with a purse through the disqualification of Apologize, which beat Lad of Langden in the sixth race. The foul occurred in the homestretch, where Apologize swerved to the inside and crowded The Golden Butterfly and Lad of Langden against the inside fence. The Golden Butterfly was the principal sufferer and might have won but for the interference. The change in the placing gave third money to Merman. The seventh race was run in a blinding rain storm that made it almost iui| ossible to distinguish the colors. Jennie. Wells had the speed of the field tin til rounding the far turn, where the favorite moved up. took an easy lead and drew away in the str.-tcu. The heavy rain means that the track will Is- at least slow tomorrow.
