BALR0NIA BEATS CHESTER KRUM. Stitt Francisco. Cal.. May .!. — Interest at Oakland today centered principally in the fourth race, at six and a half furlongs, which resulted In victory for Balronia. Chester Krum ruled favorite, but was handicapped by the presence of Jockey Buxton in the saddle. Outrun the first part tiie boy was of little assistance ami he could not catch ltalronia. which led all the way. Ranorella took third money. Thanks to a brilliant finish put up by A. Thomas the third race went to Redeem, the heavily backed favorite. The filly appeared Ilea tea af one stage, but Thomas outrode Taylor ami ..burn and landed his mount first bv a head from Bean .Man. with Tremargo close up. Aks Ar-P.en. hacked from I to 1 to 2 to 1. stumbled at the start of the fifth and threw jockey .lartctt. who .scaped injury. Mice! won from Xler-lingo. Xliss Naomi, the favorite, failed to cut any figure. Silver Stocking, carrying the colors of Robert and Hiltnan. Mexican turfmen, won the Inst race. Ix rd of the Forest was an oddson favorite but iraa badly ridden and suffered interference. Iturleigh. XIaltie Xlack and Sir Angus have laen sold to G. P Razor bv E. I.. Jones. Richard Dwycr will do the starting at the Butte meeting, but not at Anaconda or Helena. The fall ii ting at Salt Lake City will occupy his attention after Butte closes. He Is figuring on having the fall meeting open as early as possible in order that it may be ended before the bad weather sets in. Dwyer looks for a successful season at Salt Lake.
