The anticipation that the reduction of the racing periods on the Canadian circuit would lie more than counterbalanced bv the attraction they present to the horsemen in the matter of the permanent status of the sport and the valuable purse and stake offerings has been fully borne out by the patronage of numerous owners. All the horses that can be accommodated will be here for the Woodbine meeting, the liuiibcr being limited only by the stabling facilities. The most recent arrivals were the horses of the Civile ami Waldcn establishments from Baltimore, "it. L. Thomas from New Vork and K. D. Williams and S. A. Clopton from Hamilton. Ilenry McDanicl. in charge of the Thomas horses, brought Polls. Light Wool. Capsize. Golly Ding. Flying Squirrel. Moncreif. Supple and Quicksilver. Two meetings of the regulation seven-days limit are announced for Dufferin Park, the first from .luly 9 to July 10 and the other following the close of the season at Woodbine in October. There will lie a • inflict of only two days with the big tracks, the slimmer meeting opening on the day of Fort Eries closing and closing on the day of Windsors opening. Apparently no distinction is to be made this year as between the owners who race under Canadian Racing Associations jurisdiction and those who go to the half-mile tracks. Complications might arise, though, if the half milcis accept persons who have been denied Canadian Itacing Associations privileges. There is some talk of a meeting at St. John. N. B.. where there has never before been any thoroughbred : racing. If it materializes it will be given at the Moose Path Driving Park. M. F. Mogan. the customs officer who has charge of the bonded horses coming here to lace, is confined to his home by illness. John Dyinents Chief Kec has developed into a slashing good looker and in his work here this spring he has shown up better than any horse at Woodbine. Mr. Pyment considers him the best horse he ever owned, The stable of P. T. chinn is looked for tomorrow or next day.
