* : + I REVIEW OF RACING OF 1910 ON NEW YORK TRACKS + + Because of the abandonment of the fall meetings in consequence of the passage of legislation supplementary to the Hart-Agoew law making more drastic the provisions of that act against betting, the lis Iribution of money in stakes and purses on the New ork tracks during the season recently ended, fell below the lean record of 1866 in volume, although the average daily distribution represented an encouraging increase over that of last year, the leanest season that horsemen patronizing the New York tracks had been called upon to face in a long period. During the season which recently ended at Saratoga the distribution in stakes and purses amounted to 904150, as against 8838,888 in 1868, .5x2,871 in 1008 and ,017.-tOi in 1807. Keene fails to head the list of winning owners, being obliged to lie content with playing second tiddle to S. C. llildreth, whose successes have been a striking feature of 1911 racing. Last year Mr. Keene led Mr. llildreth cm the New York tracks by a margin of about .l 00. This year Mr. Hildreths New York winnings amount to .41,410. as against 881.380 won by the Keene horses. Hie Keene stable was comparatively weak this year, notwithstanding the return of the great Ballot to this country after an unsuccessful campaign in Kngland. On the other hand, the llildreth string embraced several stars of the first magnitude and. in a year of richer stakes, would have rolled up a magnificent total in stable earnings. Considering the opportunities, its showing was marvelous. R. I. Wilson. Jr.. B. !•". Carman. A.
