Iu the Prix des Chantepies. a selling race for . distance two and one-quarter miles. Mr. Vanderbilts Sampietre finished third. S. C. Hildreths Novelty Is still iu training at Saratoga and may be pointed for the colts end of the valuable Matron Stakes, to be run at Pimlico. Fitz Herbert is also galloping soundly. He has recovered completely from the lameness which devel- oped the last time lie worked at Saratoga as a result* of a br.iise and is apparently as good as new. King James, which lias not raced since lie defeated Hilarious in tile BrigbtOU Mile at Yonkers, is coming around again. Secretary Treat of the Pacific Jockey Club has r ceived a telegram from W. E. Phillips notifying Dim that tin proposed meeting at Reno. Nov.. has been declared off. It was proposed to commence September 23 and continue for seven days, dates having been assigned by the Pacific Jockey Club. The transferred Salt Lake meeting will be held at Ogden commencing th*- same date and it was found that there would not be enough horses on baud to conduct a satisfactory meeting at Reno. Secretary BidweU, of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, lias received official notification from Secretary Percy W. Treat, of the New California Jockey Club, to the effect that all the privileges of that organizations track at Oakland have been refused H. G. Bedwell and that his horses were not veil permitted to enter the track enclosure, Mr. Treat writes also to ascertain if Mr. Redwell personally should be refused track admission during race dais and says thai the New California Jockey Club iu this case will abide strictly by the rulings id the Kentucky State Racing Commission.
