ROUND THE WORLDS HALFSISTER Lexington Ky November 19 Of the few un ¬ broken thoroughbred yearlings iu Kentucky the one most talked about by horsemen in this vicinity is probably the halfsister to Col W E Applegates speed marvel Bound the World This yearling is a bay filly by the Imported stallion Monsieur de LOrnie son of Orme and Lily Asphodel by Hamp ¬ ton dam Nellie Ely by Stratford and she is owned by William Steele a sturdy Scotch horseman who for so many years was in charge of the raciug establishment of the late A J Cassatt in Penn ¬ sylvania and who is now the master of Horse Haven Stud having leased that famous farm from the Hardy Durham estate after it was given up by Perry Belmont something more than two years ago agoWhile While Mr Steele was in the employ of Sir Cas ¬ satt the famous railroad magnate bought Maudina a daughter of imported Australian and the famous imported mare Maud dam of Alarm by Stockwell Maudina in addition to being the dam of such horses as Marauder Maudlin Empress Catoctin Oden Cloverbrook Piccolo Galway Elizabeth threw Maumoe by Vauxhall likewise a stake win ¬ ner Maumee as the property of Mr Cassatt foaled Nellie Bly Musniee Madelaine and Bayard II Mr Steele raised and broke both Maumee aud Nellie Bly The latter was sold as a yearling to E Mc Elmeel and in his colors she won many races la the early nineties She iwssed to David Gideon and went to the stud at his place at Holmdel N J She produced there the winners Nedu Blythencss Nellie Bussell and Globe Bunner was purchased by Col Milton Young and at McGrathlana Stud dropped Frieze and Bound the World WorldAt At the dispersal of the McGrathiana Stud in Oc ¬ tober 1108 Mr Steele bought Nellie Bly then in foal to Monsieur de LOrme for 100 and advised W J Young who was representing Col W E Applegate at the sale to buy her weanling the chestnut filly by Lackford now so widely known because of her racing achievements this year under the name Bound the World and which Mr Young bought for 100 100Mr Mr Steele took Nellie Bly to Horse Haven and there in May ltW she foaled iu the same barn where Fitz Herbert and Dalmatian first saw the light of day this muscular straightlesrged good looking filly that local horsemen think well of offted fted Kiver Judge Monck Son Priucelike and J H Patterson are among the horses George R China has in training at Jacksonville
