AMERICAN RUNNING RECORDS TO DATE ; - The racing of 1910 brought about, new American records for five-eighths of a mile, one mile and twenty yards, one mile and seventy yards and two miles, besides the equaling of existing marks for three and one-half furlongs and one mile and a quarter. The record of 5S for live-eighths of a mile, established by Jack Nuimally at Oakland, December 3. 1907, and afterwards equaled at Seattle by Silver Stocking, was displaced when Terns Trick ran the" distance in 5S at Oakland, December 29. The new mark of 1:39 for one mile and twenty yards was made by J. II. Reed -at Churchill Downs, May 30. and superseded the former record of 1:40. jointly held by Maid Marian, Macy and Six Shooter. The first named of this trio had first established the record as long ago as July 10. 1S93. at Washington Park. The new record for one mile and seventy yards is 1:42- and was made by Bubbling Water at Oakland, November 30, displacing the record of 1:427s, established at Fort Erie by Kings Daughter. August 25, 190S. and afterwards equaled .by Grau la and Ida May. The distinction of reducing the record for two miles fell to Everett, when, in winning the Bowie Handicap at Pltnlico. October 31. he ran the distance in-3:25, thereby bettering the mark of 3:25, made by Fitz Herbert in whining the same race the preceding year. The Royal Prince, running at Juarez, and Olambala. at Sheepshcad Bay. were the horses that equaled existing records for three and one-half furlongs ami one mile and a quarter, respectively.
