ARASEE BEATS RALEIGH P. D. San Francisco, Cal., December 31. Arasee beat Raleigh P. D. a nose in the Briar Sweet Handicap, a feature of todays racing at Oakland. Perfect weather favored the sport, which was enjoyed by an exceedingly large crowd. A Held of seven went to the post for the handicap, which was at seven-eigliths, with Arasoe the favorite. Raleigh P. D. made most of the pace but weakened in the final sixteenth and Arasee, closing fast, got up in the last stride. Jim Basey was third. Laura Clay, the medium of a plunge, took the fifth race. R. J. Mackenzie won his first race of the season when Fountain Square led1 Ills field home in the closing dash. Jockey Scoville was given a weeks suspension for cutting across at the start with Laura Clay, and Selden was similarly disciplined for interfering With several horses in the last quarter of the second race. The boys will be allowed to continue riding for their contract employers. The marcs that Walter B. Jennings will sell in consequence of having .leased his farm at Woodland for ten years include Roscgal, Du Barry. Splnos, Istar, Bonxctta, Chrysalis, Candlowick, Isolation, Ruth W., Seca. Rivetta and Indian Dame.
