FOLLIE LEYY EASY WINNER BEATS HARRIGAN AND OTHER SPRINTERS IN FEATURE RACE AT JUAREZ. Time of Race Would Have Been Faster but for Top Dressing Having Been Applied to Track Gossip from Mexican Course. El Paso, Tex., January 10. Lowering skies did not aflect the attendance at Terrazas Park today, for an unusually good crowd turned out. The feature of the day was an allowance race at live and a Iialf furlongs, which attracted a Held composed of the best sprinters at the track. That the track record was not reduced was chiefly due to the fact that within the past few days a top dressing of about throe inches has been placed on the track for a widtli of about thirty feet from the rail which has made it somewhat slower than formerly. Opinion was divided between the merits of Harridan, holder of the track record for live-eighths and G. M. Odoius good mare, Follie Levy, they being equal favorites at post time. Follie Levy, however, demonstrated her superiority in a most effective manner by winning as she pleased. Wooltex. a brother to Donau, made his appearance in the first race and for a lirst appearance, ran a creditable race. lie is u good looker and will doubtless give a good account of himself in future racing. Little Friar was heavily backed in the third race, but bled in the running. The talent received quite a shock lu the third rac when the heavily backed favorite, 15ob Farley, ran in a most indifferent maimer. K. AV. Hamilton, an extensive operator, arrived from Oakland today to spend the season.
